Drink! No, I wasn't at a frat party. It was a State of the Union party which I'm sure all of you participated in. The Huffington Post had a clever drinking game to play but really the only rule that would have applied that night was drink if Nancy Pelosi claps like a seal. Obama brought to the floor the same old rhetoric he spoon fed Americans back during the race for president. He also pointed out plenty of things he was disappointed in and once again blamed Bush for the mess he has to clean up, but who wouldn't. The first thing I had to point out that night was Congress looked like a bag of skittles. Colors were in this season and some women were lighting up the room! Namely miss big and yellow, oh yeah, you know who I am talking about. I think Joe Wilson looked like he was slipped a drug when he came in because he was totally out of it. Actually, all of Congress looked like they were high. I personally would have been drunk if I had to sit through all that in person without being able to yell out "you lie!"

Lets get down to the real nitty gritty. One sentence was devoted to the gays, and the blogs went crazy cheering him on. All I had to say was, "I've heard this before." Obama pledged this year to work with the military to get rid of Don't Ask Don't Tell. I will have a party in the streets if this ever happened personally, because it would open up a job market I've wanted to be in for a long time. The truth is, Obama hasn't lived up to his promises to the gay community and the liberals in said community have finally come to realize it. Recently Defense Secretary Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs agree repealing DADT it is the right thing to do but the decision is ultimately in the hands of the most unpopular Congress in our history.

The Ayn Rand Center for Individual Rights pointed out that Obama never said "individual rights", "liberty", or "freedom" pertaining to America instead of Afghanistan. The word, "I", was repeated 105 times. The State of the Union address is meant to inform Congress as to the current state of the Union, but I heard little of that at all. Obama scolded both sides of the aisle and himself all night. Then pushed the plans he wishes to get passed to Congress telling them they needed to start getting things done. I'm sure adding a couple thousand pages to a bill then voting on it the next day is the best way to be passing legislation. But, hey, what do I know? I'm just a college student.
